Sairaalantie 5, Salo

The Marjatta sculpture by the sculptor Ben Renvall (1903–1979) is located near the entrance of Uskela Church. The work was donated by Ben Renvall’s mother. Renvall made the Kalevala-themed Marjatta in the 1930s. He continued to work on Kalevala themes for a long time. Amongst other sculptures in Salo, Lauri the Blacksmith was also made by Ben Renvall. The Renvall family originated from the Isotalo House in Muurla, where the folk high school Muurlan Opisto is currently located. Ben Renvall is now in his last resting place in the churchyard of Muurla.
