Taste the Gicel Experience at Rikalanmäki
Step onto the ancient trail and walk through the stories of an Iron Age trading site. Rikalanmäki comes alive – tales of trade and the spirit of the ancient era surround you at every step.
Rikalanmäki is one of Finland’s best-known and most significant Late Iron Age archaeological sites. Along the trail, you can imagine a time when the area thrived with life and encounters. From the excavated graves of Rikalanmäki, the Gicel sword was discovered – one of the rarest named swords in Europe, with only two found in Finland. The original is housed in the National Museum, and at Ravintola Rikalan Krouvi you can admire its faithfully restored replica. Step onto the ancient trail and let the Gicel sword awaken the stories of the past. You can explore the ancient trail independently, free of charge, or join a guided tour for an additional fee. Guided tours can be booked at Restaurant Rikala’s Krouvi.
At Restaurant Krouvi, the Gicelin Burger awaits – a memorable dish crafted from responsibly sourced, locally produced Finnish ingredients, crowned with the striking Gicelin Sword. Every bite tells a story, blending local flavors with the spirit of history.
