Edvard Leino’s House
Torikatu 13, Salo
The industrialists Edvard, Juho and Jalo Leino and their company, E. & J. Leino, were significant influencers in Salo in the first half of the 20th century. In 1917, Edvard Leino, the oldest one of the industrialist brothers, built his private apartment at Torikatu 13. The modest building in Jugend style was designed by the architect Adrian Thomander. Around that time, Jugend style was becoming less decorative, and architecture was starting to turn in the direction of Classicism. This can be seen, for example, in the colonnade of the entrance to Edvard Leino’s House.
