Antti Maasalo, Moving – Playing – Living, 1999

Completed in 1998, Antti Maasalo’s kinetic light artwork is located on the ceiling of the entrance to the Salohalli sports hall (Urheilupuisto 9/Pormestarinkatu 5). The artwork, which is moved by wind power, symbolises the many possibilities that the building offers for indoor sports. The work is illuminated by coloured lights that shine brightly in the dark. The competition to name the work was won by the proposal Moving – Playing – Living. Antti Maasalo (1940–) is a member of the Dimensio and Non Art groups. Antti Maasalo is also known as a designer of children’s play sculptures.
